As a current police captain, I have worked with police professionals from across the country. My interactions with Jay Draisin have been meaningful and professional. His knowledge of real time crime centers and computer technology was evident from the start.
I met Jay in 2022 as my agency was in the process of creating our center. He was kind enough to meet with me via video call and answer all my questions. I would later interact with him after he retired and went to work for a large international public safety company. Yet again his knowledge and experience were helpful in guiding me through unfamiliar territory.
His skills were most evident to me when he was conducting training for one of our teams when an officer involved shooting went out. The class responded to the call for assistance.
Jay quickly asked, "Do you want me to show you how to run a command in the program"? He walked into our center and took time to demonstrate how the software could be used in this instance and in the future. He spent a few hours talking to everyone and answering questions as he used the incident as a live training session for us.
I have over 27 years experience in policing. I have had opportunities to meet and work with people from around the world. In my current position I've seen numerous computer technologies and met a lot of salespeople. What sets Jay apart was his wiliness to actively engage and build a relationship. In 2019, then Lieutenant Jay Draisin was tasked with the creation and implementation of the Orlando Police Department’s Real Time Crime Center. This required Jay to conduct extensive research for the architectural design of the Crime Center, and operational and administrative processes. He was responsible for the staffing, equipment purchase, software selection, and the overall management of the newest crime tool in the Department. As his direct supervisor I was amazed by his work ethic and how he tackled every challenge and difficulties he experienced on a daily basis. Not only was the Crime Center completed and operational a year later but from day one, it became the standard for other agencies creating or just updating their crime center. Jay continued to manage the Crime Center until his retirement as a Captain in 2023. During this period Jay became a nationally known expert in the implementation and operation of real time crime centers. In my opinion there’s no one more knowledgeable and experienced in the overall requirements to creating and managing new crime enforcement and prevention tools. Without hesitation I would recommend him for any task with no doubt he will succeed.
